The Dublin Homelights Festival

Experience the Homelights music and visual Festival in Dublin

The Homelights Festival is a weekend of visuals and music that is co-organised by Irish recording artist Adrian Crowley and the independent music promoters, Foggy Notions.

This is the sister festival to Adem’s Homefires staged in London, England and the Fence Collective’s Homegame in Fife, Scotland. The event aims at portraying the idea of community and artistic relationships.

This years line up for the four-day festival being held at Whelan’s in Dublin will feature numerous artists who Adrian Crowley has sprung friendships with during his career that has seen five albums released to date. Some of these performers include artists from the Fence Collective, along with folk legends such as Vashti Bunyan and Andy Irvine.

The festival that runs from Friday 27th November 2009 until Monday 30th November 2009 is being held at Whelan’s live venue on Wexford Street, Dublin. This has been one of Irelands most important live music venues of the last decade and one of the most famous and popular pubs, renowned for its warm welcome and friendly atmosphere.

Located on the bustling Wexford Street strip in Dublin city centre, there are records for the building as being used as a public house dating back as early as 1772 when Christopher Brady operated a licensed premises on what was then known as Kevin’s Port.

Visitors to Dublin can hire a car from the cities airport or from one of the many vehicle rental businesses to visit Whelan’s, which today includes two levels to its layout. A main ground floor with an overlooking balcony area allows for a 400-person capacity within the venue, which is decorated with illustrations from the famous Book of Kells.

One of the main talking points of Whelan’s is the Stone Man; a life sized statue of a lone Dublin drinker leaning against the pubs stone bar.

This inaugural Homelights event will also celebrate the newly established association between Adrian Crowley and the influential Scottish independent record label, Chemikal Underground. They will be releasing Crowley’s fifth album, ‘Season of the Sparks’ in November 2009.

Many more surprises, special guests and impromptu performances and collaborations can be expected at this exciting music and visuals experience.
