Flying to Dublin
Thanks to Ryanair and Aer Lingus Dublin has become an incredibly accessible city by air at very low cost. Aer Arann, previously only a domestic airline, is now expanding to cover flights from Germany to Dublin. Dublin Airport is situated a 15 minute drive from the city centre. From the airport you can get a 24-hour AirLink bus for 5 euro, direct into the city and of course there is a regular taxi service. Following is a brief guide to your options depending on where you fly from.
From Europe
The main airline for flights from Europe to Dublin is the Irish-owned Ryanair. This low cost airline typically flys to airports a few miles outsite European cities. For example, it flys to Stanstead outside of London and Beauvais, 30km from Paris. As mentioned, Aer Arann offers flights from Frankfurt in Germany and Lorient in France.
From USA
Aer Lingus, the national airline, generally offers the best value flights from major US destinations. Unlike Ryanair, it does not market itself as a cheap no-frills service, but still manages to deliver a quality service at low cost.
